American Radio Systems (ARS)
Alan Box joined American Radio Systems as Executive Vice President/ Business Development and a member of their Board in 1997. The company at that time consisted or about 70 radios stations in impressive markets. In a period of less than two years Alan was directly involved in an aggressive campaign of raising capital and acquiring, training, and selling more than thirty radio stations.  American Radio Systems, having grown to more than 100 radio stations, was acquired by CBS in 1999 in a $2.5 billion cash transaction.

American Tower Corporation (AMT)
When the American Radio Systems/CBS transaction closed each ARS shareholder additionally received shares in the newly formed American Tower Corporation.  At that time Alan was Chief Operating Officer and a Board member and responsible for a fast paced campaign of tower acquisitions as well as overseeing an aggressive internal growth program.  For example, in one year this new tower company built more than 1,000 towers while acquiring an equal amount through a host of one-off and group deals.  In less than two years American Tower became the largest tower company in the U.S., and completed a successful IPO trading on the New York Stock Exchange.  The company continues to grow rapidly and is now the largest provider of cellular, PCS, and broadcast tower services in the US, Mexico and Brazil.

Cowboys & Indians
Previously, two of the Cienda principals acquired a controlling interest in Dusty Spur Media, a small media company that, among other activities, published Cowboys & Indians magazine. Over a 2-year period, these principals led the effort to restructure all of the company’s liabilities and create and execute a new business that included the acquisition of several other competing magazines. At the end of the 24-month turnaround plan, the company was merged into a larger media firm, providing the company's new investors a 200% return on their investment.
