Cienda is also taking great care to get feedback from the surrounding neighborhoods in Oak Cliff. “They’re a community that cares, so you can’t come in and say, ‘This is what we’re going to build—stand back,’” Hancock says. “You have to work with them, and I think we’ve done a good job.”

Plus, Cienda is willing to take its time. Wise says the project, which will likely include four phases, will take about a decade to complete, and Cienda plans to hold onto the property long-term.
